President Guarasci and Chancellor Christiansen Interviewed on KFAB
On Tuesday, October 13th, Wagner College and CUMU President Richard Guarasci and University of Nebraska at Omaha Chancellor John Christiansen spoke about the Coalition’s mission and the CUMU 2015 Love of Place conference on Omaha’s news radio station KFAB. President Guarasci described the highlights of the conference, including the 75 member institutions who shared ideas on how to harness the social and environmental assets of metropolitan universities to strengthen K12 programs, increase graduation rates, improve health care access, and stimulate economic development in their communities.
President Guarasci and Chancellor Christiansen both conveyed conference attendees’ appreciation of UNO’s commitment to the community, which was particularly evident from the tour of the Barbara Weitz Community Engagement Center. This facility provided an impressive model for how other urban institutions can bring nonprofit and K12 partners onto their campuses to pool resources and collaborate, which is not seen at many other universities.
