In line with CUMU’s strategic plan goal to expand research opportunities and partnerships across our membership, CUMU is excited to announce a new initiative that will begin in 2019.
CUMU is partnering with the Community Change Influence Unit of the Annie E. Casey Foundation to commission a research project focused on programs being undertaken by members of the Coalition of Urban and Metropolitan Universities that serve “opportunity youth”—young people between the ages of 16 and 24 who are neither in school nor working. These programs can include both those that are led directly by university staff, as well as local collaborative partnerships of which the university is a member. Examples of such programs include, but are not limited to, prevention of disconnection, school completion, school re-engagement, barrier remediation, workforce development, and job placement.
CUMU is soliciting proposals from prospective research partners to complete this research project in 2019. We invite all current CUMU members to apply. Applicants could consist of individual researchers, research teams, centers, or institutes.
