Dr. Vicki Golich of MSU DenverWe are pleased to announce that Dr. Vicki L. Golich of Metropolitan State University of Denver (MSU Denver)—a CUMU member—will serve as guest editor of Metropolitan Universities Issue 29.2, “The Urban Advantage: Denver Conference Issue.” Dr. Golich is the Provost and Vice President for Academic & Student Affairs at MSU Denver. She has held positions at The Pennsylvania State University and California State University San Marcos (CUMU member). Her research focuses on international commercial aviation—its level of safety, the multinational production of commercial aircraft, and the diffusion of knowledge—and achieving collaborative success related to global common goods, such as the protection of our fragile global environment.

“Dr. Golich’s insights on economics, politics, and as a leader of an urban-serving institution make her a natural choice to serve as guest editor for Metropolitan Universities. ‘The Urban Advantage’ is something she understands and champions at Metropolitan State University of Denver,” says Valerie Holton, Executive Editor, Metropolitan Universities.

The theme of the 2017 CUMU Annual Conference issue not only looks at the role our urban and metropolitan universities serve in their communities, but also the role our cities play in students’ academic and personal growth. This issue will feature topics about the ways administrators and scholars are using teaching, learning, and research to address the most pressing challenges facing our collective communities.
