Express Scripts Named Title Sponsor of CUMU’s 23rd Annual Conference
The Coalition of Urban and Metropolitan Universities is pleased to announce Express Scripts as the title sponsor of CUMU’s 23rd Annual Conference.
Express Scripts is the largest pharmacy benefit management organization in the United States. In addition to managing prescription benefits for tens of millions of Americans, Express Scripts provides philanthropic support to nonprofit organizations dedicated to healthcare, education, military, and community support.
“Express Scripts is honored to be the title sponsor of this year’s CUMU Annual Conference. Like many of you here, we are committed to both education and opportunity and believe that the two together can be the equalizer and stabilizer in today’s society,” said Susan Stith, Vice President, Diversity & Inclusion and Corporate Giving, Express Scripts.
“As a company, we are excited to be a part of a conference that allows attendees to learn from each other by sharing best practices, discuss challenges, and develop collaborative networks and partnerships which can and will lead to sustainable change in our communities,” added Stith.
Express Scripts is headquartered in St. Louis, MO, where the company supports programs and initiatives to help educate underserved children, specifically through STEM, workforce development, and college readiness programs.
One such program is the University of Missouri–St. Louis Bridge Program. Aimed at engaging low-income middle and high school students in science and math activities, the Bridge Program aims to minimize the gaps that impede a student’s ability to successfully transition to college. As a result of the Bridge program, students achieve higher test scores and better rates of high school graduation and college attendance.
“The Bridge Program’s success is in part attributed to the outstanding support and commitment from our community partners, such as Express Scripts,” said Tom George, Chancellor, University of Missouri–St. Louis, and CUMU President.
Through after-school clubs and summer activities for students and weekend programs for parents, Express Scripts employees have shared their career paths and supported the students’ desire for successful college experiences.
“Express Scripts employees are helping to encourage the next generation of scientists, researchers, engineers and pharmacists,” added George. “I thank them for their continued support of college access and success and look forward to welcoming them to this year’s conference.”
The CUMU Annual Conference is the largest nationwide meeting of leaders from urban and metropolitan universities and colleges. The 2017 Annual Conference will take place October 8–11, 2017 at the Denver Marriott City Center in Denver, CO.
