CETYS (Center for Technical and Higher Education) University is a private institution of higher education located in Baja California, Mexico. Founded in 1961 under the sponsorship of a group of visionary entrepreneurs, CETYS currently enrolls +8,000 students across its three-campus system with locations in Mexicali, Tijuana, and Ensenada, with two campuses located along the US-Mexico border. Throughout its history, CETYS has been committed to developing the whole person, consistently provided young people with opportunities to showcase their ability to excel in an increasingly competitive world in three primary areas of study: engineering, business, and the social sciences. CETYS holds U.S. institutional accreditation through the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). CETYS promotes collaboration between academia, industry, government, and society to generate innovative solutions for a sustainable future.

Education beyond borders

CETYS’s MBA Double degree is a unique “cross-border experience” between CETYS and University of San Diego, another CUMU member, to collaborate to train and mold professionals with a global vision in a business context. Geographical proximity and the steady flow of commuters who cross back and forth constitute fertile ground for this and other regional, cross-border collaboration. This opportunity allows people on both sides of the U.S.–Mexico border to better understand each other, both socially and professionally.

CETYS campuses are in Baja California, the Mexican peninsula just south of the American state of California, where Tijuana is the largest city and Mexicali is the capital. Those unfamiliar with the region might not know that many in the area already have a bi-national mentality—it’s not uncommon to live in the U.S. but work in Mexico, and vice versa.

Through the MBA Double degree, students take courses in both countries and graduate with an MBA from CETYS and a Master of Science in Global Leadership from University of San Diego. Students choose which campus to graduate from.

CETYS offers even more plurality in programming with a triple-MBA degree offered as an 18-month program through a collaboration among schools in Austria and Vietnam.

CETYS’s Certified High Impact Incubator offers students opportunities to get closer to the largest network of certified professionals in the Baja California region to turn ideas into sustainable businesses, generating significant community impact.
