The Coalition of Urban and Metropolitan Universities (CUMU) requests nominations of CEOs of CUMU member institutions for vacancies on CUMU’s Executive Committee. Positions will be elected to serve two-year terms (October 2020–2022) in the following positions:

President: The president serves as the chief executive of CUMU, its principal spokesperson, and presiding officer for meetings of the Executive Committee and Presidents’ Council. The president must ensure the continuous vitality of CUMU and offer active attention and leadership toward fulfillment of CUMU’s mission. The president is elected by the Presidents’ Council at its regular annual meeting to serve one term of two years in length. No person may serve as president for two or more consecutive terms, and may be re-elected only after an intermission from the office of president for at least one term.

Vice President/Secretary/Treasurer: This position shares the same responsibilities as the president for the vitality of CUMU. The vice president/secretary/treasurer shall perform such other duties as from time to time may be assigned to the vice president/secretary/treasurer by the president or by the Executive Committee. The vice president/secretary/treasurer must be the CEO of a member institution.

Members-at-Large (six vacancies): Members-at-large are elected by the Presidents’ Council at its regular annual meeting to serve for a term of two years in length.

The election will be held at the annual Presidents’ Council meeting during the 2020 CUMU Annual Conference during the week of October 19, 2020. Meeting date and time TBD.
