Barbara Holland, PhD, is recognized internationally for her scholarship and expertise on organizational change in higher education with a focus on institutionalization of community engagement. In addition to serving as a strategy advisor to CUMU, Holland serves as a Distinguished Community Engagement Professor at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO), where she provides guidance and oversight on three key areas of community engagement:

  • Faculty development of community-based scholarship
  • Long-term strategic planning
  • Establishing research

Holland sat down with UNO Chancellor Jeff Gold for an interview for the Maverick Minute, a video series featuring Gold interviewing members of the UNO community. In this edition, Holland speaks about UNO’s Metropolitan University Mission, the power of the urban advantage, and the Weitz Community Engagement Center.
