Towson University is proud to host the 13th Annual CUMU Conference on Metropolitan Universities & Community Engagement. As Maryland’s metropolitan university, Towson’s association with CUMU has been instrumental in our success and strategic planning - - we feel privileged to host this year’s annual meeting and conference!

Over the years we have seen the Coalition evolve as more institutions define themselves as urban and metropolitan. One of CUMU’s founding missions is to promote the exchange of ideas, experiences, and research outcomes among its members. As more institutions identify with our mission these conferences become increasingly vital to ensure that the proper policies are discussed and implemented at our unique institutions to ensure that we reach our full potential.

Baltimore has been a center of urban redevelopment over the last decade and will serve as an excellent background to the theme of this conference. We hope that you will join us in October for what will be a stimulating and enlightening conference.
